A Show-Stopping Celebration: Lukas & Carl’s Theatrical Boyne Hill House Wedding

When two cruise ship performers fall in love, you know their wedding day is going to be nothing short of spectacular. Lukas, a dancer from Seattle, and Carl, a singer from Dublin, first met while stepping in as emergency replacements on a European cruise line. Years later, after a magical double proposal in the heart of Luxembourg, the London-based couple brought their love story to life with an autumn wedding at Boyne Hill House Estate in Meath on October 18th, 2025. Surrounded by 100 of their closest family and friends, many of whom flew across the globe to celebrate, and captured beautifully by photographer Wojtek Piatek, their wedding is a masterclass in seasonal styling and captures the most stunning autumnal aesthetic.

But first let's hear about the proposal. "Lukas planned to propose in Luxembourg although I had a sneaking suspicion that Lukas would also want to be proposed to," says Carl "So I also prepared a ring!" In the end this loved up duo both proposed to each other in the heart of Luxembourg city.

Fast forward to this creative couple's wedding moodboard, where they drew their primary visual inspiration from the venue itself. "The moment we stepped into Boyne Hill House, I knew it was "the one." says Lukas.

Blending their theatrical roots with their design vision, another of the standout decor elements was a custom-made musical poster created by the couple. Styled after an antique playbill, this brilliant piece of stationery acted as one of the core visions for the entire day, with elements of this vintage styling used throughout.

Lukas looked exceptionally sharp in a bespoke suit crafted by Morgan & Fenwick, while the couple sourced their wedding rings from Gentlemen’s Bands. Their rings were kept safe in a beautifully engraved wooden ring box sourced from Etsy.

Breaking away from the modern "first look" trend, Lukas and Carl chose a traditional approach: seeing each other for the first time as they walked down the aisle. "This moment will remain forever in our
memories and honestly made the ceremony feel even more special than it already was," says Carl.

The beautiful autumn floral arrangement running along the conservatory ceiling in the venue set the tone for a rich, seasonal colour palette which showed in every little detail of the day that followed.

Lukas’ mum passed away the year prior to the wedding, so it was important to honour her in every aspect of the
day. "We had two readings, one in English and one in German, that spoke about those who weren’t able to join the wedding day," says Carl. Flower arrangements throughout were created by Ashbourne Flowers.

Both coming from professional musical backgrounds, music was the ultimate priority. The couple meticulously curated custom playlists for every single chapter of the day - including the aisle walk - which was seamlessly executed by the venue's coordinator, Sara Fay, and SoundHire audio equipment.

Rev. Barbara Allen crafted a deeply personal ceremony that brought in some beautiful traditions. The readers lit a dedicated remembrance candle, bringing in the presence of Lucas' mum, as well as the spirit of all those who couldn't attend, right into the room. The atmosphere was heightened by the vocals of musician Aisling Deegan.

"Emotional, overwhelming, and filled with so much love" is how Lukas and Carl sum up the day. "It sounds cliché to call it the best day of uur lives, but it truly was!"

The couple added their own personalisation wherever they could. "The table names featured countries we had visited on the cruise ships and a sweets table featuring different sweets from Ireland, Germany and The States."

From the laughter of Lukas’ young nephew Kendrick (the only child capturing hearts in the wedding gallery) to the heartfelt messages left on their Carolyn's Sweets audio guestbook, it truly was a day to remember.

"Our guest list was very important to us, especially since we had people flying in from all across the globe. We wanted a venue that wasn’t too difficult to get to, where all our guests could have the option of staying on site."

After a gorgeous dinner, the theatrical flair truly took over. For their first dance, the grooms treated their guests to a performance of One Night Only from the musical 'Dreamgirls' - a perfect nod to their stage backgrounds!

Meanwhile The Ratzingers kept the energy high all night long, handling both the live band set and the evening DJ duties. But the surprises didn't stop there. In a fabulous twist on traditional evening entertainment, the couple hired sensational drag queen Snow White Trash to perform, sending the party into absolute overdrive.

Looking back on their spectacular planning journey, Lukas and Carl have some golden advice for couples currently planning their big day: "Our advice for gay couples is to make the day entirely yours. Whether you go more traditional or abstract, an intimate celebration or a full bridal party, you have the freedom to create a wedding that feels completely unique and special to you! Anything’s possible."

"Also have fun planning!" adds Carl. "We each tackled different tasks throughout the process, but ultimately it was a very special time getting to plan and create our day together. It will come and go sooner than you expect!"

After throwing the party of a lifetime, the grooms are currently enjoying married life in London and are dreaming up an unforgettable honeymoon trip to Australia in the coming years!
